Winter’s Light Series - Hand-Poured Soy Candles (Vanilla)

Wrapping up the soy candle portion of our Winter’s Light Series (read about it here), today I am introducing our last  Soy Candle fragrance for this week…. Vanilla!

Vanillasoyjarcandles

One of our original candle fragrances, Vanilla is a classic scent welcoming to most noses.  We did a LOT of testing before settling on the perfect vanilla.  This one is a Madagascar vanilla with a hint of butter, chocolate and cream.  Good enough to eat, you just cannot to go wrong with a nice, warm, soft vanilla!

If you didn’t catch the earlier post explaining all about our hand-poured soy candles, here is a recap:

We have been making these for quite a few years now, hand-pouring them in beautiful Union, WA on Hood Canal.  We use 100% soy wax, not a wax blend.  Why soy?  Oh so many reasons.  First off, it makes a wonderful candle.  The wax burns at a lower temperature, so you get a longer burn time with soy over paraffin.  It will also withstand a heavier load of fragrance oil, so they are very highly scented.  We’ve had a single votive candle sitting in our car as an air freshener for going on 5 years now, and it still smells wonderful!  Soy is grown right here in America, so by choosing soy you are supporting American farmers, not to mention using a renewable resource, as paraffin is a petroleum product and not renewable.  If that isn’t enough, you can remove any leftover wax residue in your candles cups with soap and water!  What’s not to love here?

Soyvotive-cinnabunL

Currently, we are pouring standard-size votives, tealights, and an 8 ounce jar.  We do not use dyes in our wax, so the naturally creamy white color of the wax won’t compete with whatever your decorating palette you may have.  The votives fit in a standard-sized votive cup and will burn 10-15+ hours depending on how long it burns each time you light it (seems to burn longer overall if you keep it lit for a long time).  Tealights come in a clear plastic candle cup which can be placed out by themselves, or within larger hurricane candle holders or jars.  One tiny tealight will scent a whole room, and burn for about 6 hours!

Our jar candles have a classy, vintage-style look with their amber glass and black lids, reminiscent of antique apothecary containers.  Again, total burn time depends on how you light it, but our test candles burn for at least 70 hours (our tests burn on average 75-80 hours, but we say 70 to play it safe!).  Once you’ve burned the candle, the glass jar and lid are reusable for home storage!  Use for craft storage, cotton balls, herbs, vitamins, oil blends or creams, flavored sauces, bath salts, notions – whatever!  If you don’t want to reuse the jar, then please recycle. :)

Vanilla tealights, votives, and jars are in stock now!

We hope you enjoyed this introduction to some of our soy candles – we’ll release more scents as the year progresses, so just keep an eye on our website for more goodies to come! :)

Winter’s Light Series - Hand-Poured Soy Candles (Pumpkin Pie)

Continuing with our Winter’s Light Series (read about it here), today I am introducing our next Soy Candle fragrance…. Pumpkin Pie!

Pumpkinpiesoyjarcandles

Pumpkin Pie is hand-down our best seller for the autumn season, but also remains consistently popular year-round.  This pumpkin pie fragrance is buttery, butterscotch-y, and very VERY fragrant!  NOT a spiced fragrance, this scent mimics the pie itself rather than the spices – think pumpkin custard, strong and buttery, with notes of ginger and nutmeg.  When we had our physical storefront, we never bothered displaying these candles.  People would walk in the door and instantly ask for whatever that delicious smell was, so we just left these on the counter – we’d go through an entire batch of them per day some months!

If you didn’t catch the earlier post explaining all about our hand-poured soy candles, here is a recap:

Winter’s Light Series - Hand-Poured Soy Candles (Cloved Cranberry)

Continuing with our Winter’s Light Series (read about it here), today I am introducing our next Soy Candle fragrance….Cloved Cranberry!

Clovecranberrysoyjarcandles

Cloved Cranberry combines the crisp, fruity scent of ripe red cranberries with the warmth and spice of cloves, and a sprinkling of sweet sparkling sugar!  Wonderful for Christmas, of course (this was our best seller in December), but it doesn’t scream “holiday.”  Cloved Cranberry is a nice winter fragrance (our best-selling last month), having the warmth of spice, yet cool and fruity.

If you didn’t catch the earlier post explaining all about our hand-poured soy candles, here is a recap:

Winter’s Light Series - Hand-Poured Soy Candles (Cinnabun)

For us, the beginning of January always starts with some serious nesting - finding homes for our received gifts, tossing out accumulated clutter in the frantic moments of December, cleaning and airing out the house after holiday travels, and trying to enjoy the outdoors and fresh air as much as possible without freezing our noses off.  We try to tuck in as much light here and there to ward January blues, as we’re cozied up inside during the shortest, darkest days of the year.  Candles, little lamps, specialty light bulbs and LED lights are among our top selling items in January/February, so I thought it would be fun to do a blog series to highlight some of our favorites.

This week I’ll talk about our best-selling soy candles, made right here in western Washington, and introduce once scent each day.

Soyvotive-cinnabunL

If you are unfamiliar with our soy candles, we have been making these for quite a few years now, hand-pouring them in beautiful Union, WA on Hood Canal.

CinnamonsoyjarcandlesL

Today’s fragrance is Cinnabun, our top-selling year-round fragrance.  Each season has its best-seller, but it is Cinnabun that is a consistent favorite all throughout the year.  The classic spicy warmth of cinnamon and cloves are sweetened up a bit with some vanilla and brown sugar.  Light this one up and folks will be sure that gooey cinnamon buns are baking in your oven!

Cinnabun tealights, votives, and jars are in stock now.  Tune in tomorrow for the next fragrance! :)

New Rustic Wooden Signs

Hello!  Just added a few new signs to the shop, thought I'd share them here.  These are definitely on the more rustic side - they were made of scraps of reclaimed wood, so the shape is irregular, and there's lots of distressing going on here!

Bangheadheresign
Bang Head Here Wooden Sign - who doesn't need this sometimes?!  Great accent to add some humor to your office, work space, or home.

Benicesign
Be Nice Wooden Sign - another great reminder!  Perfect for a classroom, your office, your home, any place people need to be reminded to use their manners. :)

Hellosign
Hello Shelf Sitter - love the simplicity of a single hello.  This little guy sits on a shelf or windowsill.

We have lots and lots and LOTS of wooden signs, plaques, and shelf sitters.  We also have a line that is all hand-painted free-hand right here in Mill Creek, WA.  We can do custom signs, just give us a ring!

Have a happy Thursday! :)

NEW! Round and Extra-long Tablecloths!

I have been very lax in letting you all know of the wonderful new gifts and home decor we have coming in, so some of my goals for 2014 is do a better job of this.

One of the things I am MOST excited about this year, that finally after 8 years of buying for The Weed Patch, someone has finally started making a wider selection of country/primitive table cloths, in extra long sizes and in rounds.

As of 2014, one of my favorite companies, Victorian Heart (now called VHC Brands) has start making their table cloths in the following sizes - 40 inch square, 60 inch square, 60 x 80 inch, 60 x 102 inch, 60 x 120 inch, and 70 inch round.  We have been asked over and over, and we've never had any to offer before now!

Here in a small sampling of the selections:

See all VHC Brands Tablecloths HERE, and see ALL our Tablecloths HERE.

After receiving so many requests for so long, it is so nice to finally have something to offer you.  These tablecloths offer great value for a great price.  They are all 100% cotton and machine washable.  I own several and wash everything in cold water and dry on a low setting, sometimes hanging it up while still slightly damp to finish drying (but I'm a little over-cautious).  Almost all of them having matching table accessories too, like runners and placemats, as well as window treatments like valances.

If you have any questions at all about what is available, what the colors look like or what there is to match, feel free to visit our retail storefront in Bothell, WA, or our website HERE.  You can also call us at 800-876-5230 (we're open 10 am to 6pm, but remember we are on the west coast!)!

Last Shipping Day of 2012!

Please note that the last day we will be shipping items out until after Christmas is December 18th, 2012.

We are a small, family owned business - and every year we shut down shipping operations a few days before Christmas to enable us to slow down a very small amount and spend some much needed time with our family.

In stock orders placed by the 17th will ship immediately. If your order is placed after the 17th, we cannot promise that it will ship until the first of the year.

Also, if you are ordering a piece by Dennis Brown, that order will need to be in our system no later than Saturday December 15th, 2012!

If you have items on your order that are not in stock, we will ship what we have, unless you have entered order notes to the contrary.

Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns, and thanks for your understanding! :)

Merry Christmas!
