Funny Photos 8/29/2008

We love the Japanese. Or, really, any foreign country with fantastic signs.

Will you love me when I'm old and .... ?

This image has been floating around for a while. Seriously, what would YOU give for that price?

Yummy Grilled Hamburgers

These are the first hamburgers I ever made. Feel free to vary the ingredients, adding more Worcestershire sauce, breadcrumbs, and onion if you like more of a rich meatloaf-like flavor. Yum!

Yummy Grilled Hamburgers (or, as Chris calls them, the Perfect BBQ Burger)

  • 3 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • ¾ cup breadcrumbs
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • ½ onion, finely minced
  • 1 garlic clove, finely minced
  • Salt, about 1 tsp
  • Pepper, about ½ tsp
  • Seasoned salt
  • Sautéed Mushrooms (optional)
  • Caramelized Onions (optional – see notes)

  1. Mix together the eggs, crumbs, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Stir in ground beef until well mixed. I usually use my hands - kinda gross, but really does a great job.
  2. Form hamburger mixture into patties - remember that burgers really shrink down on the grill. This recipe will make 8-10 patties.
  3. Grill burgers as usual, sprinkling on some seasoning salt on both sides of each patty. While they are grilling, sauté your mushrooms: thickly slice about a pound of mushrooms (button or crimini, or a mixture of both), melt about 1 T button over medium high heat in a non stick pan, and add mushrooms. Stir fry over medium high heat until softened and lightly browned.

Note (optional) : Meanwhile, also caramelize your onions: Slice 1 medium onion (sweet is best - Vidalia or walla walla) into rings about ¼ inch thick. Melt about 2 tsp butter in a medium frying pan over medium high heat. Add onions. Cook on medium high, stirring occasionally, until they start to soften, just start to color, and look a little slimy. Turn heat down to medium low, and continue to cook until gooey dark brown and totally soft. Some people like to add a pinch of sugar toward the end to encourage that last bit of caramelizing. Process takes about 25 minutes, so they’ll be done when your burgers are done!

Makes about 8-10 burgers. Enjoy!

New Weed Patch Desktop Wallpapers!

We're very excited to have two new desktop wallpapers available for our customers (or anybody who want's them!)  These are the first two of what will probably become a minor obsession for me (Chris) as I enjoy looking through all the beautiful pictures we've got, and this is a great excuse to do so.  Not sure what a Desktop Wallpaper is?  Read on, and I'll tell you!  But first, here's the first two!

What IS a Desktop Wallpaper?
Your Desktop, in this context, is the screen of your computer; usually there are icons such as "My Computer", "Recycle Bin", "My Documents", etc. on your desktop. Chances are good there's already an image of some type making your screen look pretty.
A Desktop Wallpaper is an image that you can have displayed on your computer desktop.

  1. Click on the size that you want (under the photo). This will load the appropriate image.
  2. Once the image is loaded, RIGHT click on it and select "SAVE AS".
  3. A dialog box will appear asking you what to save the image as, and where; we recommend you save the image to your My Pictures folder, located in My Computer. Chances are, if you need these directions, then that's the default folder that will come up so all you need to do is click OK.
  4. RIGHT CLICK on your Desktop - this is what you look at when there's no windows open; it usually has icons all over it, including "My Computer", "Recycle Bin", etc.
  5. Select Properties from the popup menu
  6. Click on the Desktop Tab at the top.
  7. Select the image you just saved, and click OK.
  8. Your Done!

Fummer...? Or, Sall...?

Here is a bit of pretty for you.  Seems appropriate this time of year, as we're just getting into that gorgeous time of year where it is kind of fall and summer at the same time.  Fummer.  Or Sall.  Anyway, the sunflowers are blooming, leaves are starting to die, and it is hot, but we're getting some nice fall-like breezes and smells.  I like the smell of dead fields.  We were in the car the other day, stopped at a light next to a large span of dead grass, and Chris says "why does it smell like fall?"  So true.  Some dead things smell really very nice.

The photo is of a design painting I did in college.  Sometime I'll tell you how it was created, as it was the third in a series of design products that grew more and more complicated until it came to this painting.  It was also a color lesson - every color in the painting I created using basic primaries, plus black and white.  It was such a wonderful class!  Anyway, I was entertaining the idea of selling prints of the painting, but I'm not sure if anyone besides me loves this painting.  We'll see.

Adding more products like mad to the site!  It's killing me, because I have a whole big huge spreadsheet of products ready to get uploaded onto the site, but just haven't been able to do it yet, as it is a time consuming, complicated process.  But we've got Tag, Blossom Bucket, and Kurt Adler Christmas all ready to go, just sitting here waiting!  Ack!  But it is coming, I promise. :)

Take care...

Seasons of Cannon Falls

So sorry it has been so long since we've written!  All of our Christmas and Fall stock has been arriving, and we are furiously trying to open up all the boxes, prices everything, and find a place for it all before the next big shipment arrives!  We've had some long stressful days, but it is so much fun to see everything in person finally!  This means that within the next several days, I'm taking off most of the preorders for the Fall and Christmas, so that everything shows on the site as being ready for immediate shipment!  It is so much fun!

Today I am working on our Seasons of Cannon Falls order.  Here is some eye candy for you, just a few of the over 150 Seasons of Cannon Falls seasonal goodies we have!  Enjoy!
