Ahhhh...October is officially in full swing. The nights have gotten very crisp, and all I want to do is drink hot tea out of my Lang mug, and bake. With pumpkins. Anything with pumpkin in it (hence the pumpkin muffins not too long ago).
We've been prepping and decorating for this weekend's event, the annual Harvest Festival here at Country Village. The scarecrows and cornstalks are out, and tonight Chris hung up the fall leaf garlands and set out the straw bales. And we have pumpkins! Gorgeous pumpkins...
When my mom said she was bringing pumpkins, I had no idea they'd be so pretty. People have been mistaking them for fake pumpkins, they're so perfect. As mom has said, Uncle Wes planted them, she tended them, and God watered them. It was a group effort! Part of the proceeds will benefit a friend of ours who is currently doing missions work in the Sudan (click to see her website, or read her blog here)- she is raising money to dig a well, and my mom and uncle are helping by growing and selling pumpkins. We've got the cute mini ones, some bigger carving ones, and really yummy looking and tasking Sugar Pies. When you're done displaying these ones, be sure to eat them! Yum.
This weekend proves to be a fun one, as with previous years. We'll have pumpkin painting, train rides, kettle corn, and other fun things for the kids. At the store, we'll be serving free hot apple cider, as well as sampling out some of our yummy food items - I don't know what we'll do yet, but we've got yummy new dip mixes, cheeseball mixes, and soup mixes. Yum again. What is it about fall that all I want to do is eat??
